Grasso, 54, knows this season “doesn’t look promising” for the Pirates.

“We’ve got some young talent. … And what ends up happening with the Pirates is once they reach that certain level, they seem to go elsewhere,” the Sharon native said. “But it’s fun. This is more of a social thing than it is tied to the Pirates.”

Adam McGaughey, 29, is experiencing his first opener with APEX, which builds chemical processing equipment. McGaughey grew up in Hampton Township, went to Penn State and worked in Philadelphia before moving back to the area.

“It’s during the work week, but this is a time to relax,” McGaughey said, standing at a tailgate beneath the overpass off Tony Dorsett Drive. “There’s nothing like coming down to a game, you know? It’s a great stadium, the best stadium in the whole MLB, in my opinion. You’re here with good people, have some great food, some baseball. It’s a good event.”
