APEX has recently been assigned the task to clean and restore a non-functional Tantalum Heat Exchanger due to excessive fouling and contamination in the tubes. These exchangers are the main component of a steel pickling application and must function properly in order to produce the required heat for HCL Service in the steel industry.
Apex met this very difficult project with custom tube cleaning equipment and years of experience with tantalum heat exchangers. After, testing and inspection our Customer is now 100% satisfied and ready to place this scrap Tantalum heat exchanger back into service for many years to come. This video shows cleaning of a completely clogged up Tantalum Heat Exchanger where 10 out of 40 Tantalum tubes are completely clogged and fouled with a rubbery substance and other deposits — rendering this $100,000 Dollar Heat Exchanger completely unusable. Cleaning such thin and extremely expensive tubes is very difficult, some say a perilous process, and requires specialized proprietary tools.
